Did the student or group propose a strategy that directly affects comprehension?
Some tactics directly affect comprehension by changing the way children structure, organize and make sense of what they read. For example, asking a child to explain a passage in their own words to someone else is likely to involve reorganizing the material and noticing gaps in one's own understanding. Other tactics, change the way children read but do not have a direct effect on how the child constructs meaning. For instance, rehearsing information might help a child remember it, but not understand it. |
