"In the Addition episode, the student is required to solve the problem on this own. He has no feedback as to how he is doing until he is finished. The teacher continues to give him problems, but he must do the thinking and work on his own. The student seems to struggle a bit, but eventually comes up with the right answer, by himself. His performance seems poor, because he must do this by himself and does not seem to have any help or understanding of how to do the math quickly."
