I think both students did poorly on the transfer questions because these types of questions call for more thought, more application, more steps, and more opportunity for thinking to go in an incorrect direction. With recall questions, you either recall it or you do not. Sometimes the recall question itself will spark your memory and it is easier to remember the answer. Sharon had a hard time taking an example and explaining it since she is so used to explaining by using examples. Andrew has a hard time writing down his ideas. If the ideas are in his head they do not make it to the paper. |
