There were very few instances in which students recalled using any of these techniques in their subsequent course(s). One student mentioned using some of these ideas in a current reading course in number theory, another cited an example in group theory (abstract algebra), specifically of proving that a finite group of even order has an element of order 2. The only other thing mentioned was the use of congruences.
