The students whose work is featured in this site are:

Sonya, STEP '00, English pre-service teacher

Jessica, STEP '00, Science pre-service teacher.

These students were selected because their cases were rich and thoughtful, and  because they provided particularly strong illustrations of development toward expert thinking described in our analysis of student learning. 

 

There were fifty-eight students in the STEP class of 1999-2000. Fifty-three percent of the students were white and forty percent were students of color, with seven percent undeclared. Specifically, 53% (thirty-one) of those students were White; 21% (twelve students) were Mexican-American; 16% (nine students) were Asian-American; 7% (four students) were undeclared; and 3% (two students) were African-American.  Forty-six of the students were women and twelve were men.
