Stats on DOT land

Soldotna is a small community of 3,800 residents located on the Kenai Peninsula 150 miles south of Anchorage. The DOT (Department of Transportation) Land is located on the Kenai River near the center of Soldotna, Alaska. The Department of Transportation was forced to leave due to their contamination and its immediate proximity to the river. Cleanup of the oil, tar, gas etc.is expected to be completed by the state in April of 2003. At that point the land will be turned over the to the City of Soldotna. It will then be developed into a ‘town center’. It was our goal as a class to gather the community’s ideas to inform City Council what the citizens felt would be the best use of the land. It is our hope that this information will be taken into consideration as the park design comes into play.

Lot 2-A 8.10 acres

This property borders the Kenai River to the north and the Sterling Highway to the south, Soldotna Creek Park to the east and Davis Block (gravel/cement company) to the west. It was appraised at $1,200,000 in 1998.
