In the last two and a half years the Neuroscience Program Graduate Student Council (NSP-GSC) has become an essential part of the program at MSU.  Students have played an active role in committees and the making of decisions that help with advancing the program.  This year, I have had the privilege to become the chair of the council.  It has been an easy task because of all the support I receive from the other graduate students and from the faculty in the program.  I have newfound respect for the administrators who make critical decisions that improve the program in order to create an effective learning community.  I believe the GSC has been incredibly important to the program because it provides a venue for students to voice opinions and play a role in improving graduate training.
