As one of the founding members of the Neuroscience Program graduate student council (NSPGSC), it has been an excellent experience to work with both the student body and Program administration to make the NSPGSC a success. The NSPGSC has allowed me to gain experience in administrative and service capacities including serving as graduate student representative on a faculty search committee and organizing the NSP annual retreat. In addition, I have found that the NSPGSC also serves to increase collegiality at all levels of the Program (graduate student, postdoc, and faculty) thus providing a social and academic network that enhances my training experience on a broader level. As a result, I strongly believe that the NSPGSC is a positive aspect of the Program.
