A Gallery of Institutional Projects
A Collaboration of The Carnegie Foundation and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation
One of the challenges facing educational reform is that there are few ways for new ideas and innovations to travel from site to site. A campus or school may develop a powerful new curricular model, an assessment tool, or a classroom approach that others could use and build on, but unless that work is documented and made easily accessible, it is unlikely to have broad impact. With this challenge in mind, The Carnegie Foundation has piloted the KEEP Toolkit for capturing the work of institutions involved in educational innovations. The toolkit makes it possible to apply the principles of the scholarship of teaching and learning to work at the institutional or program level. Our first set of pilots focus on projects in undergraduate education funded by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Carnegie's partner in work on teaching and learning higher education. Hewlett's Web site now features a gallery of higher education project reports created electronically with the KEEP toolkit. The institutional project snapshot encourages campuses to document and reflect on their work and disseminate it outside the framework of traditional grant reporting, providing an outlet to widely discuss what the campus did, why, how, and to what effect. The result is a succinct project portal that provides quick access to selected instruments, materials, data and evidence related to the campus's work. It also enables campuses to learn from efforts in other settings. |
