The production cycle keeps the students focused through routine. It is a three-week cycle and they know what to expect each
week. They know when things are due and what days are more intense than others. This helps them plan their school schedules, which transfers to the rest of their lives, resulting in students who are more
organized and able to multi-task.
Having a clear staff structure means that each student's role is well defined. When Juniors begin Advanced Journalism they
typically have a partner to work with on page editing. Once they are Seniors they have observed what the editors-in-chief, associate editors and business managers do for a year. This helps them to understand
what is expected of these very different roles.
